Think you could be the next James
Cameron or Sarah Polley? Well, here’s your big break. The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative is inviting
emerging Nova Scotia filmmakers to apply to the FILM 5 Program 2011/12.
FILM 5 is a professional development program for writers, directors and producers. Four teams will be
selected and awarded $7,500 in cash and over $25,000 in services to produce a five-minute short film with
mentorship from professional filmmakers and workshops.
Participants will leave the program with a film that can be used to showcase their abilities and help launch
their careers. Past participants include some of Canada’s most successful filmmakers including Jason Eisener
(Hobo with a Shotgun).
Sound like this is your ticket to Tinseltown? Better get going. Deadline for applications is Oct. 10, 2011.
The program begins in November. Application packages can be downloaded at afcoop.ca
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be residents of Nova Scotia, have basic film training, have
demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career as a professional filmmaker, and one or more team members must
have had films shown in a professional context (festival participation, curated screenings or broadcast).
