For surfing in Canada,
the only spot that ever comes to mind is Tofino, B.C.
Otherwise, you’ve got to be off to the States or Australia or generally somewhere else. But for one group of
Quebecers, maybe not.
On Surf Montreal, urban surfing
enthusiasts have come together to promote the city’s best spots to hit some waves. The fact that the city has
spots in general is amazing. Locations include LaSalle (great for beginners, apparently) and more
advanced areas close to a condo complex called Habitat 67, which is between Old Montreal and Parc Jean-Drapeau.
You can check out a YouTube video of them here.
Surf Montreal also takes surfing trips to other North American hotspots, recommends its favourite Montreal
tourist spots and discusses (and sells) equipment that’s best for tackling Montreal’s unique waters. I say
“unique” specifically because, well, none of the water is anywhere near the ocean.
The water might be a little cooler than you’re used to, but when it comes to being cool, everything else
sounds like it couldn’t be better.
