Spring has officially arrived, and your outdoor patio
furniture has slowly come out of hibernation from that desolate ceiling storage, and out into the open
backyard.
While you’ve probably added some new patio trends to your outdoor décor, as highlighted in “Livening Up Patio Furniture in 2010,” your 20-year-old,
rust-covered barbeque remains the same.
It’s time to invest in a new one! Something that you can proudly show friends and family at the
beginning-of-summer barbeque get-together that is on the horizon.
Don’t be discouraged when you head into an outdoor shopping store and are overwhelmed with the many barbeques
of all shapes, colours and sizes lining the aisles.
We have a few selections from Weber, the leading manufacturer of charcoal and gas grills for more than 55
years, and PC Home, another leading home décor producer that specializes in great barbeque products. Here are
some of our picks:
Stainless Steel Never Shined so Brightly
Both Weber and PC Home have high-quality performance stainless steel barbeques, which claim to not
stain, corrode or rust as easily as ordinary steel. They are sleek-looking, and they certainly grill to
perfection.
The Weber Genesis CEP-310 is a BBQ that every griller aspires to cook on. With three stainless steel burners
and electronic ignition system, porcelain-enameled thermometer, 637-square-inch cooking area, stainless steel
work surface and warming rack — it’s the dream grill for anyone. It’s big enough to cook all your meat and
vegetables and the great thing about this Weber gas grill is that you can choose from a natural gas or liquid
propane system. It comes in black, brick red, steel grey, copper and green colours.
PC Home also has a really macho-looking line of BBQs. Their mambo-jambo Signature Series Double Lid Gas Grill
looks forbidding at first, but it’s very easy to use and the double-lid feature allows you to check your
vegetables on one side without disrupting the rest of your food on the other.
Tasty, Well Done Weber Charcoal Grills
There is nothing like a steak cooked to perfection, especially over a charcoal grill. 45% of
Canadian grill owners say charcoal grills make tastier food than gas grills.
Nothing really beats having that outdoor taste to your meat and vegetables, and Weber has a great collection
of charcoal grills that will satisfy any of your grilling needs. Weber’s classic kettle style, which they
invented in 1952, cooks food better than any other grill on the market. For their new Spring collection, they
completely reinvented it with their new models: the Weber One-Touch Charcoal Grill and Weber Performer
Charcoal Grill.
The Weber One-Touch is the perfect grill for small spaces. This grill fits right into any space and performs
just as juicy as the others. It has a 363-square-inch cooking area, plated-steel cooking grate, built-in
thermometer, two thermoset work tables, adjustable legs, and a stainless-steel One-Touch cleaning system with
removable high-capacity ash catcher.
Their charcoal grills come in a compact size that will fit both your backyard needs and cooking requirements.
Whether you have a larger patio or you are restricted to a balcony attached to your condo, Weber’s charcoal
grills can fit nicely into any small or large place.
The Weber Performer is another fabulous grill that has been restyled for 2010 with curved edges and a sleeker
presence. It has a 22.5-inch diameter porcelain-enameled bowl and lid with a 363-square-inch cooking area,
Touch-N-Go gas ignition system, two Char-Basket charcoal fuel holders and a thermoset work table, among other
features. According to Weber, 40% of Canadian grill owners say they would like some colour on their next
grill, and the Weber Performer gives great colour options with available colours in black, green and dark
blue.
If you’re looking for something even more compact, check out PC Home’s charcoal barbeque solution. This
spring, their new line offers the Portable Tabletop Grill and the Portable Kettle Charcoal Grill. Each of
them is compact and essential to any small backyard or balcony that won’t allow for a full-sized
griller. They are perfect to fit a good amount of meat on one side and vegetables on the other. The
Tabletop Grill is made out of stainless steel and the Kettle Charcoal Grill is porcelain-enameled.•
