Carrying on from my musical take on food
last week, I recently
stumbled upon Drinkify’s website, which helps pair your favourite musician to a drink. You simply type in the
artist’s name in the “I’m listening to” search box and click on the “What should I drink?” search tab. Voila!
You get a deliciously concocted — and sometimes unusual — recipe for a drink.
The website was created
for Music Hack Day Boston, which was held earlier this month, and was created by Lindsay Eyink, Hannah
Donovan and Matthew Ogle.
Drinkify is also connected to Last.fm, which allows you to listen to the tunes as
you browse.
Putting the website to the
test, here are some of the ones I found:
Classics
The Johnny
Cash:
4 oz. Jack
Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
4 oz.
Honey
Combine in highball glass
and serve. Stir quickly.
The Frank
Sinatra:
1 bottle
Merlot
Serve at room temperature.
Garnish with maraschino cherry.
Classic.
Modern
The
Rihanna:
1 oz. Red
Bull
1 oz. Tabasco
sauce
1 oz. Lemon
sour
Combine in highball glass
and serve. Garnish with olive.
The Lady
Gaga:
6 oz.
Vodka
Serve neat. Garnish with
olive.
I was expecting
something a little more eccentric but it will do.
Canadians
The Shania
Twain:
1 Bud
Light
Serve
cold.
The Barenaked
Ladies:
10 oz.
Jägermeister
Serve on rocks. Stir
quickly. Garnish with cocktail monkey.
The
Drake:
8 oz. Sipsmith
Gin — Lifestyler
favourite
8 oz. Coco
Lopéz
10 oz. Coco
Lopéz
Combine in highball glass
and serve. Garnish with wedge of watermelon.
The Justin
Bieber:
8 oz. Red
Bull
Serve on
rocks.
I’m guessing Drinkify
figures the listener must be underage.
The website is more
for entertainment purposes. But some of these drinks don't sound too shabby. Give Drinkify a try at
