From work chic to couture style, J.
Crew stocks apparel and accessories for the whole family.
The American retailer was initially launched in 1983 through catalogue sales before opening its first store
in New York City in 1989. Its popularity has sustained the test of time as they currently have 251 stores in
the U.S., including 87 factory outlets and 219 shops operating under the J. Crew name. Since 1991, Canadians
have embraced J. Crew’s offerings through their catalogue and online services. But now, the time has come for
a store of its own.
Last Thursday marked the opening
of J. Crew’s first Canadian store. The shop, located in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, gives
Torontonians a hands-on approach to shopping the J. Crew brand. So, exactly what can shoppers expect from the
5,000-plus square foot store? It’s one marked for the ladies.
The store is stocked with a
selection of women’s-only styles for everyday wear, weekend apparel, outerwear, as well as the coveted J.
Crew Collection – a label consisting of limited-edition, season-based pieces that scream couture – and not to
mention all the accessories you need to complete an outfit.
Already a trendsetter with its
clothing, the opening of the store hopefully marks the beginning of a J.Crew retail expansion trend across
Canada.
