This year at Nokia World, Nokia’s annual event held in London for customers, partners and developers to
view the brand’s technological advancements, the mobile communications company unveiled a series of new cell
phones, mobile services and accessories — including the new Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset. The over-ear headphones, which are also available
in in-ear form, were made in partnership with audio giant, Monster, a collaboration meant to not only
increase the sound quality but the promotional buzz surrounding the product as
well.
One of the most appealing
features advertised of the Purity Headset, is its weight. Weighing in at 180 grams and designed with what
Nokia calls “ultra comfort” in a “sleek,
lightweight and superior design,” one of its primary selling points is that their light, sleek design should
make them wearable for long periods of time. In the world of over-ear headsets, achieving lightness is often
a challenge simply due to the size and weight of both a comfortable headband, the cushioning of ear pads and
of course, the size and quality of speakers concealed behind the ear pads.
Another of the Purity
Headset’s selling points is its general good looks. Complete with a 40 mm thick band and rectangular-shaped
ear pads, the Purity Headset does have a visually appealing and sleek design. With availability in black,
white, magenta pink and cyan blue, the product could easily be marketed towards those interested in having
their headphones express an element of personal style.
Because they are a design
commissioned from Nokia, the headset also includes integrated music
and call handling controls, allowing users to play music and take incoming calls hands-free. The device is
also compatible with any phone, music player or of course, any Nokia phone.
