One thing I always daydream about when I’m at my desk, toiling away at the day’s work, is the outdoors. Now I am by no means an “outdoors-y” type, but it’s always nice to get out and get some fresh air to recharge the mind.
Julio Radesca de Carvalho, a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, has come up with a potential solution to the cubicle blues with what he calls personal fresh air — an innovative office desk that brings the outdoors straight to you.
Each desk is fitted with planters able to fit about 12 plants. The plants are meant to help clean the air inside sometimes-stuffy offices, as well as provide privacy, and a great view. Just imagine having your very own personal fresh air desk. I think I’d want to fill my desk with something cool like bonsai trees or cacti. Well, maybe not cacti, considering my clumsy nature.
An even better idea: What if you could plant fragrant herbs in your personal fresh air desk? The office would smell great, and you’d have garnish for your bologna sandwich.
Pretty soon, entire buildings can look like an outdoor landscape, straight out of a hiking magazine.
